TCI 2004/05 Catalog Addendum
The Quantitative Standard: Pursuit of Program Chart
Revised Standard as of 7/15/04
In addition to meeting the school’s standards for satisfactory academic progress, students must also demonstrate program progress by accumulating credits toward a degree or certificate according to the time frames noted below.

In order to retain eligibility for federal financial aid, students must complete their programs of study within a maximum time frame of 150% of the length of the program. For purposes of this calculation, the total number of credits needed to attain the degree or certificate defines the length of each individual program. Towards that end, the College will measure program pursuit at the end of each semester. Students are deemed to be making satisfactory program pursuit for federal financial aid purposes based on meeting the minimum standards described in the following chart:
  Credits Attempted* Minimum% Achieved
  0 – 15 30%
  16 – 30 35%
  31 – 45 40%
  46 – 60 50%
  61 – 75 60%
  76 – 90 65%
  91 and above 67%

*Note: All grades for credit-bearing courses, including withdrawals and failures, are considered attempts for the purposes of program pursuit calculations.

Those students who fall below the minimum percentage required, based on the number of credits attempted at the end of a semester, will be placed on probation for one semester. While on probation, a student may still receive federal student aid.

A student’s failure to attain the minimum acceptable percentage of earned credits at the end of the next semester will eliminate the student from participation in the federal financial aid programs. Participation can be re-established only after minimum program pursuit requirements have been attained or an appeal has been approved.

Student appeals for exception from the program pursuit rules can be made to the Office of Student Affairs. Students who can document extenuating circumstances (e.g. medical or family emergencies) will be considered for continued federal assistance at the discretion of the Director of Student Financial Services and the V.P. for Academic Administration and Student Development.
